Medical Milestones: Scientists Get Closer to Cure for the Common Cold

Inside of a Particle Accelerator

We’re a bunch of nerds around here at the Pulse offices. So naturally we flipped when we saw these photos of the crazy stuff going on at the Hadron Collider at CERN in Switzerland. Some have predicted that the experiments taking place there will open a black hole or maybe even cause the earth to implode. With so many theories, who really knows what is going on over there? Whatever the case, it makes for some spectacular images. If this is what the end of the world looks like, we can all expect one hell of a hallucinogenic trip on the way to the pearly gates. World renowned physicist, Lex Luther, explains what the Hadron Collider is all about and whether we should be investing in canned food and bottled water... Read more

The Death of the Incandescent Bulb

For decades the soft yellow glow of tungsten has filled the every room in our homes. That warm aura is being replaced by the bright greenish-white harshness of new fluorescent light bulbs that are advertised to be more energy efficient and longer lasting. Environmentally safe? If you read the label on the back of the box, it recommends calling a HAZMAT team to your home if you should ever break one. Apparently the stuff inside of these environmental miracles is potentially lethal if it is inhaled, swallowed or comes in contact with open cuts. A lot of consumers are upset with the change in illumination. Many even claim that they have migraine headaches due to the new lights.
